Wrapping Up The Summer

The summer of 2009 has been everything and more for the Northshore Auto Mall Community Cruiser Team. The Cruiser Team has been all over the map, from Squamish to Burnaby and everywhere in between while displaying the Northshore Auto Mall proudly on our chests and heads. Whether it was opening a water bottle for an elderly woman or cheering up a crying baby with a beach ball, we have done it all this summer. If you live on the North Shore or attend events in the surrounding areas on your weekend, you could not have missed the bright yellow Northshore Auto Mall Cruiser and it's team in attendance handing out promotional items to onlookers. The Cruiser Team would like to thank anyone who attended Family Day, or just took a water bottle at one of the events.

Don't forget to check out all of our photos from this great summer on the "Northshore Auto Mall" Facebook page.

Summer Full Of Love

This weekend the Northshore Auto Mall Community Cruiser was back at it again. The weekend included the Summer Of Love Woodstock Anniversary in Kitsilano on 4th ave. People of all ages came out to this event to show off their inner-party animal dancing to the bands and checking out the exhibitors.
The Cruiser Team was also in attendance at the Gastown Motorcycle Show and Shine on Water Street. We mingled with all the bikers and checked out all the Harleys and other freshly cleaned motorcycles.
Fianlly, we finished our weekend at Latin Summer Festival which took place at Trout Lake. The children enjoyed our beachballs and frisbees, while the adults were much more intrigued by the tote bags we were handing out. The Cruiser Team, along with many others, took the time to enjoy some authentic Latin cuisine (tacos) which was absolutely phenomenal!

Family Day 2009!!!

Family Day at the Northshore Auto Mall has finally come and gone. The weather unfortunately was not cooperating with us early on, but later in the day the sun finally started to come out and brought the crowds we expected. We had around 3,500 people and over 20 exhibitors in attendance this year. Even the Northshore Auto Mall Community Cruiser was spotted on the site between Morrey Mazda and Pacific Honda and was the victim of many paparazzi photographers trying to catch a glimpse of the infamous cruiser. Everyone was wearing their smiles and no one went hungry thanks to AllWest Insurance popcorn and the Rotary Club of Lions Gate who seemed to have an endless supply of hotdogs and chips. The whole event went without a hitch and would not have been made possible without our exhibitors, volunteers, dealerships, and a special thanks to Peter Waugh from Cam Clark Ford Lincoln. All the proceeds from Family Day went toward Family Services of The North Shore and the Rotary Club of Lions Gate.

All Over The Map!

The Community Cruiser Team is at it again! On Saturday the Cruiser Team traveled along the Sea to Sky and attended Squamish Days Logger Sports. Many families attended all trying to catch a glimpse of the various logger sports going on in the hot sun. The Cruiser Team also attended The Harmony Arts Festival held at Ambleside towards John Lawson Park and included live music, arts and crafts, and a large bbq. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and were very pleased to see that we were offering water.

Sunday was another scorcher and began with the Pride Parade downtown. The Parade was quite unique and featured many crazy people with interesting outfits. The water once again was the hottest ticket in the parade and people were very grateful. After managing to bypass all of the closed streets The Cruiser Team made our way back to North Vancouver to The Harmony Arts Festival where we finished our weekend.

Caribbean Certified

The hot weather brought out the masses at the two day festival known simply as 'Caribbean Days' located at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. The festival began with a parade on Saturday with people of all ages and costumes stretching all over Lower Lonsdale. The parade included fantastic music and dancing of all ages! The Community Cruiser Team handed water bottles and other items to thirsty observers watching on the side. After the parade finally cleared Esplanade Street the crowd moved over to Waterfront Park where there was live music, local merchants, and Carribean-style food. The Cruiser Team rushed back to Waterfront on Sunday for the second day of Caribbean Days which was equally as enjoyable as Saturday.

Northshore Auto Mall Brings Sun to Kits!

This weekend the Community Cruiser Team ventured over to The Corona Open which was held at Kitsilano Beach this year. With the temperature outside around 30 degrees Celsius and the water around 20 degrees Celsius there was no shortage of people wanting water bottles.

On Sunday the Cruiser Team headed back out across the bridge to Folkfest at Jericho Beach. The festival was in full swing and there was enormous groups of people all over the grounds checking out exhibitors, live bands, and everything else taking place.

To end this weekend the Cruiser Team attended The Weekly Concert Series at Lonsdale Quay and a Mercedes Benz Car Show taking place at Waterfront Park. What is better than live music and a field full of perfectly shined up Mercedes Benzes?

F I E S T A !!!! Italian Style

This weekend the Community Cruiser Team was all about the beautiful North Shore. We ventured off to Ambleside to check up on how people were managing the seawall in the scorching sun, and how the kids were cooling off at the Mahon Water Park. Turns out some needed water, while at the Water Park they were in excess of water and turned to the beach balls, frisbees and tattoos.

The Community Cruiser Team saved the best for last and finished off the weekend at Festa Italiana at Mahon Park. The park was packed full of people who were Italian and people who wanted to be Italian. There were half a dozen exotic cars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Maseratis! There was dancing all around and everyone, including the Mayor of North Vancouver, seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Warm Weather and Kayaks Mix Well

The weekend of July 4th was an interesting one where the Community Cruiser team hit a home run at Zuehlke field where the North Vancouver Baseball tournament was held. The water park close by was great for promoting Family Day. All the kids were excited to receive our new beach balls while their parents were excited to receive water and Family Day information.

Sunday's weather was much warmer but strangely less sunny! The Community Cruiser Team paddled out to the picnickers, cardio exercisers and paddlers at the MEC Paddlefest at Jericho Beach. The water was littered with vessels of all shapes and sizes which was truly a sight to be seen! The Cruiser Team took off the top and headed back to the North Shore where a Corvette show was taking place at Waterfront Park. The show featured Corvettes ranging in years from present day back to vettes from the 50's!

Happy Birthday to... Canada!

Canada is now a whopping 142 years old and North Vancouver really knows how to throw a great birthday party! The Cruiser Team began at the North Vancouver Canada Day Parade which started at Grand Boulevard Park at 14th and stretched along 13th and up Lonsdale then across to Mahon Park. There were 95 participating organizations and the streets were completely covered with people. Needless to say the parade participants were exhausted and so were we. We then continued down to Waterfront Park where the Canada Day festivities were already in full swing. The new addition of the beachballs were a huge hit with the younger demographic. We left the large crowd and continued towards West Vancouver stopping at Ambleside Park to finish the day.

Hallo, γειά σου, kumusta!

"Hello!" This weekend the cruiser team went multi-cultural, visiting Greek Day 2009 and the Fillipino Barrio Fiesta on Saturday in downtown Vancouver. Both events proved to be very culturally diverse but the Northshore Auto Mall appealed to everyone. P.S. Greek Day goes on all week and if the food is half as good as it smells you will be in for a treat! The Cruiser Team also went to Oakridge Center for Design for Diversity where the Canada Line has finally been completed and looks absolutely stunning!

On Sunday the team shifted into fifth gear and spun our tires at
The German Car Festival at Waterfront Park in North Vancouver. The team also attended the 18th Annual Walk the World for Schizophrenia at John Lawson Park in West Vancouver where we gave out water and other items to families enjoying the sunshine, fatigued joggers, and casual dog walkers along the seawall.
