Gettin in the Groove!!

With one month gone by in the Cruiser program the cruisers are now in the groove. A packed schedule ensured the team enjoyed a fun filled weekend. Despite the weather on Saturday, the Cruisers patrolled the streets of the North Shore and Vancouver. The highlight of the day was MEC Bikefest at the Olympic Village where exhibitors and bikers were putting on quite a show.

Sunday's schedule was the busiest the team has had all summer with 6 different events! The day started out at Waterfront Park where the team perused the collection of German cars on display. The crowd was very friendly and the weather could not have been any better. The cruisers then made their way downtown for Carnival del Sol where plenty of people were taking in the Latin culture. A brief stop down at Coal Harbour was also greatly enjoyed by the Cruisers as the weather was perfect and the people were friendly. The day ended off with the Cruisers back on the North Shore up at McCartney Park for some softball as well as Mahon and Kinsmen Park.

Rain and Cars!

Another week has passed and the Cruiser team was out all over the Lower Mainland this weekend. On Friday night they went out to the Point Grey Fiesta where lots of families were playing around in the park.

The weather took a turn for the worse on Saturday and Sunday. This however, did not stop the cruisers from getting out. Saturday's highlights included a trip out to Granville Island, Jericho Beach and Ambleside Park. Despite the weather there were a number of people walking the seawall.

Sunday was the busy day of the weekend! The cruisers took in three car shows, one in Dundarave and the others at Waterfront Park. There were lots of really cool cars and plenty of people. Later in the day the team went out to the Lovestruck Baby and Family Fair at the Olympic Village and ended the day on Commercial Drive!

Great First Weekend!!

The community cruiser team is back with full force! The new team traveled around the North Shore and Burnaby stopping at many great local events. Saturday the team visited Metrotown for CBC's PlayOn road hockey tournament. The all day event included a celebrity game with the likes of Darcy Hordichuk, Javier Glatt and Mark Donnelly. Later on in the day the cruiser team enjoyed the sunshine at Mahon Park where the North Shore Relay for Life was taking place. The kids loved our frisbees and beach balls!!

Sunday was another eventful day which saw the Cruiser team out at Stanley Park for the Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes, and then at Gastown for the celebration of 125 years of service by the Vancouver Fire and Rescue. The day ended on the seawall in Dundarave where many families were enjoying the great Vancouver weather. Many great things in store for the team in the upcoming weeks. Keep an eye out for the Community Cruiser team and their bright orange Mazda 5 around the North Shore and Vancouver.
