Try saying that five times really fast! Well this weekend we went to Kits Fest at Kitsilano Beach where the was sunshine, families, and many athletic activities. Can you believe there was a basketball tournament 10 feet away from a beach volleyball tournament?! It was great seeing everyone in the sun checking out the exhibitors and entertainment. Thank you to everyone who came by the Cruiser Team to talk to us about the Northshore Auto Mall and enjoyed any of our bottled water, tote bags, beach balls or frisbees. The Community Cruiser Team will definitely be attending this event next summer.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

What a scorcher this weekend was! There was no shortage of people wanting water to cool off with, frisbees to toss, or beach balls to throw. We began our weekend at Spanish Banks where the Volleyball BC Youth Provincials were being held. The spectators were very grateful for the water to refresh themselves while they watched the high energy action in the hot sun. After having such a great time at Spanish Banks The Cruiser Team decided to see what the beaches on the Northshore were like, and they did not disappoint! Ambelside was filled with families, young people, older people, babies... you name it and they were probably there! The blistering heat really didn't stop anybody from running around, playing games, or just soaking up the rays.
After having such a great Saturday The Cruiser Team had high hopes as they headed out on Sunday. The Cruiser Team headed to Latin Festival at Trout Lake Park and it was jam packed! The heat only added to the atmosphere and vibe. Then The Cruiser Team made their way to the Chinatown Festival and it was remarkable to see how many people were there. The summer may be winding down, but there are no signs of that as far as The Cruiser Team can see!

Family Day 2010

Well it has finally come and gone... The highly anticipated Family Day at the Northshore Auto Mall. What a successful Family Day this year and we owe much of that to everyone who came out to attend the event. Although the day lacked sunshine there were so many smiling young faces to light up an overcast morning. Later in the afternoon the weather did start to show signs of picking up and the rain was held off. We had roughly 2500 attendees and all the proceeds went towards Family Services of the North Shore and the Rotary Club of Lions Gate. Thank you to all the exhibitors and entertainers and make sure to pencil in Family Day for next year. Check out pictures from Family Day on our facebook page.

A Harmonious Summer

BC Day long weekend was jam packed with festivals, parades, beautiful weather, beach balls, and of course water bottles! We started the weekend at the Harmon Arts Festival in West Vancouver and The Cruiser Team couldn't get over the huge amounts of people who were there enjoying the festival. There was the perfect balance of soothing music, great artwork, good conversation, and breathtaking scenery. Next, The Cruiser Team made an appearance at the Pride Parade in Vancouver and boy was the energy high! It was so great to see so many supporters from Vancouver at the parade... it was so pack we almost couldn't find a spot! Once The Cruiser Team finished up at Pride we decided to head back to Harmony Arts because we had such a fantastic time the day before, and day two did not disappoint! Next Sunday is the much anticipated Family Day here at the Northshore Auto Mall! It starts at noon and is completely free! Make sure you head on over with your family for some great rides, informative exhibitors, and tons of fun! For more pictures of our events check out our Facebook page!

Caribbean Certified

This last weekend the Community Cruiser Team attended Caribbean Days at Waterfront Park by Lonsdale Quay both Saturday and Sunday. The event was sooooo busy we could barely find any parking. Although parking was in short supply, there was definitely no shortage of people checking out the food, performances, exhibits, and of course... beer. There were a lot of young families who we refreshed with bottled water and invited to Family Day. It was great to see even more people of all ages out on the Sunday to experience Caribbean culture.

If you know of any events that The Cruiser Team should know about... Please let us know on Facebook where you can also see more pictures from the events every week.

Summer Time and The Livin's Easy

This weekend we were all over Vancouver starting with the Corona Beach Volleyball Tournament. So many people crowded the sand to catch a glimpse of the competitive athletes trying to become kings of the court. Also on Saturday the Cruiser Team attended the Slice Of Summer Festival taking place at Killarney Community Center which was a blast. Sunday was equally as exciting for the Cruiser Team. We started our day by going to the Party At The Pier 2010 taking place at the pier by Lonsdale Quay. We found a lot of families and children who were very thirsty for our water and loved the beach balls. Sunday we also made the journey to Folk Fest which was awesome. Although we didn't go into the event itself we were able to talk to the excited patrons heading in. For more pictures of this weekend and past ones check out our Facebook page under Northshore Auto Mall.

Totally Off The Wall

What a crazy, wild weekend it was for the Community Cruiser Team. Friday July 9th we embarked on a journey over to sunny Spanish Banks beach where the 19th Annual Sandcastle Competition was taking place. Many young children were thrilled to see we had free goodies for them, however we had to conserve our numbers for there was far too many kids. Saturday we headed across the Lions Gate to Burrard and 1st street where the Underwear Affair was taking place. We also made it to Vancouver's Largest Water Fight at stanley park where there was so many kids with squirt guns the Cruiser Team had to run for cover a few times! The Community Craft Fair at civic plaza was polar opposite of the Water Fight. Nice easy listening live music with people taking in the sun and checking out what each vendor had to offer. Sunday was a whole different dragon... literally... Walk With The Dragon at Lumberman's Arch is Stanley Park turned out to be a pleasant surprise, everyone was extremely receptive to our water and tote bags. Last but not least was the Tibet Festival where the Cruiser Team learned a little about the history of Tibet. Check out pictures at our facebook page!

Ready... Set... Race!!

For a weekend where the weather looked questionable The Cruiser Team was able to pack a lot in. We met some great people, heard to some awesome stories, and got to listen to some amazing music. We started the weekend at the Hastings Sunrise Summer Kick Off and the event was hopping! There was an intense street hockey tournament for the children and taking place, tons of very informative exhibitors, and great activities for the children! Continuing on the weekend The Cruiser Team made their way to the Seek the Peak Relay, which started at Ambleside, continued to Grouse Mountain, and finally finished by taking the grueling Grouse Grind up the mountain. After this The Cruiser Team attended the Subaru Half Iron Man Triathlon, which took place at Spanish Banks, Locarno Beach, and Jerhicho Beach. It was inspiring to see the triathletes pushing themselves to their limits. Finally, to finish off a great weekend The Cruiser Team headed to the TD International Jazz Festival at David Lam Park. There were lots of families there just taking in the atmosphere and groovin' to the beats. A weekend that we were anticipating being "low key" it sure was jam packed!

Rain Rain Go Away.. Don't You Know It's Canada Day?!

There was no way the rain was going to dampen the spirits of this Cruiser Team! Armed with water bottles, beach balls, tote bags, and frisbees the team made their way to the North Vancouver Parade to celebrate Canada's birthday in style, and there was no shortage of eager spectators and families soaking in the parade... and the rain! Once the parade was over The Cruiser Team headed down to Waterfront to enjoy the festivities taking place. The crowds were enjoying the live music, delicious hot food, and plethora of informative exhibitors. The Cruiser Team capped of a pretty fantastic Canada Day at John Lawson park listening to some live music with the multitudes of families.
All in all, Canada had a great 143rd birthday and The Cruiser Team was really excited to be apart of the celebrations!

Get The Cruisers To The Greek!

Have you ever wondered what a blues scale was? The Cruiser Team was lucky enough to learn all about that this weekend at International Jazz Festival. The Cruiser Team got there early and there were already tons of people groovin' away in anticipation for a melodic and harmonious ten days. Next, it was off to Summerfest at Waterfront where the families were out in full force enjoying the sunshine and the beautiful scenery!
The next day nothing was going to stop The Cruiser Team from attending Greek Day... not even a little rainfall could discourage the enthusiastic Greek Day participants. Everywhere you looked there was pita, souvlaki, tzatziki...you name it, they had it! Everyone was in high spirits regardless of the continual descent of water droplets from the sky. To cap off a fantastic weekend, the Cruiser Team went to the German Car Show at Waterfront. BMW's galore, we even saw some of our Park Shore BMW friends there too!

Buzzing... Into A Great Weekend!

The last official 'spring' weekend of 2010 and The Cruiser Team was going to make the most of it before the hot (hopefully) and busy summer!
Saturday began in beautiful Point Grey at the Point Grey Fiesta which was tons of fun! There were an abundance of families there and a great place to promote Family Day on August 8th. Afterwards, we went to the opening of the Queen Mary Community Garden in North Vancouver and it was buzzing... literally, with bees! There were hundreds of bees buzzing around pollenating all of the colourful flowers!
Sunday, The Cruiser Team headed out early in hopes of missing potential rainfall. The day began at the annual Alcan Dragon Boat Festival and the turn out was phenomenal. Thousands of people were there to watch and cheer on their favourite teams! Then the team headed to the MEC Paddlefest and even though the weather wasn't cooperating, it didn't slow down the number of dedicated paddlers that came out the the event. To finish off a great weekend the team headed to the Italian and French Car Display and Motorcycle Show at Waterfront. There were lots of dads out with their kids and lots of photo worthy sports cars!

Hats Off To The First Weekend!

The first weekend in for the Cruiser Team and it was a huge success! Unsure what to expect from the weather... and from themselves, the team loaded up the cruiser and made their way to the Annual Hats Off Day in Burnaby Heights and were blown away by all the people, the never ending lineups for food, and all the furry canines that came out as well! Afterwards, the team made their way to West Van Days which had live music, booths, and a ton of entertainment for the kids. To cap off the perfect day the Cruiser Team headed to the Seawall and passed out some water, which was much appreciated by the walkers and joggers.
On Sunday the Cruiser Team headed out to the BC Children's Hospital's ChildRun 2010, and when it was over, made their way to 'Italy Comes to the Drive!', on Commercial Drive. The team saw a lot of the ChildRun participants had made their way to the drive as well, and the beach balls were much appreciated by all!
All in all, a very successful first weekend that set an exciting tone for the whole summer!

Supporting our Community

The holidays are a time to not only celebrate with friends and family, but also a time to remember those who are less fortunate and need our help and support. The Northshore Auto Mall is pleased to present a contribution of $35,000 to Family Services of the North Shore. The funds will be directed towards the Christmas Bureau and to the Safer Places program.

On hand in early December to receive the cheque from Steve Morrey, President of the Northshore Auto Mall were Janet Sanderson and Diana Cowden of Family Services of the North Shore.
